Leeds United look set to hand new contracts to a number of new players once they have sorted a new deal out for Kalvin Phillips.

According to Phil Hay, Phillips is close to signing a new contract with the Whites which would see him made one of the highest paid players at Elland Road at the moment.

However, delving further into things during his Q&A session for The Athletic, Hay revealed that he expects the likes of Stuart Dallas, Matheusz Klich, and Liam Cooper all to be handed new deals.

Klich is already thought to be negotiating a new deal according to another response in the Q&A from Hay, while he also revealed that Dallas - like Klich - sees his current deal come to an end at the end of the current campaign.

Manager Marcelo Bielsa will be keen to ensure his squad remains focused and happy throughout the season, with contract talks and players futures up in the air something he will be keen to avoid, especially during the latter part of the season.

Phillips' new deal will be a big relief for Leeds fans after a full summer of rumours surrounding his future as the likes of Aston Villa made their interest in the midfielder well known.

The Verdict

What a positive piece of news this is for the Elland Road club and what a boost it will be if they can all these deals over the line.

Dallas has been excellent, Klich is vital to how they play, and Cooper is the captain and mainstay at centre half for the Whites.

Phillips is the big one though, and if they can sort his future out and then add the pieces around him, then Leeds could be on to a winner in the coming season.
