According to reports in the German media, Leeds United have agreed a deal to sign a goalkeeper from the Bundesliga.

German media outlet Kicker is reporting that Leeds United are on the verge of signing Felix Wiedwald from Bundesliga side Werder Bremen.

Leeds appear to have won the race to sign the in-demand goalkeeper from Werder Bremen this summer after agreeing a €500,000 transfer fee for his services.

Werder Bremen wanted to keep Wiedwald but he is angling for a move.

The 27-year-old was also attracting interest from Ligue 1 side Nantes but that has cooled since Claudio Ranieri took over as manager.

PAOK Salonika, who play in the top division of Greek football, were also in the hunt for Wiedwald but apparently submitted an unsuitable offer.

The 6ft 3in stopper has previously played for MSV Duisburg and Eintracht Frankfurt in his career before he joined Werder Bremen in 2015.

According to other recent reports in the German media, Leeds have not been the only Championship club trying to sign Felix Wiedwald.

Nottingham Forest, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Norwich City, Fulham and Queens Park Rangers have also been linked with the former Germany under-20 international.

But it seems like Leeds are set to win the battle to sign Felix Wiedwald if this report is to be believed.

Leeds' current goalkeeping option is veteran Rob Green, who does not have many years left in him, so Wiedwald could be seen as a long-term solution.
