Leeds United striker Eddie Nketiah is unlikely to be available for his side's trip to face Luton Town on Saturday afternoon, a report from Football Insider has claimed.

Nketiah has missed the last two league games through an abdominal injury, and it seems as though he will have to wait some time longer until he is able to return to action.

According to the latest reports, Nketiah is making progress in his recovery from injury, but the clash with Luton is set to come too soon for the 20-year-old.

It also appears as though the fixture schedule could work against Leeds here as well, with Marcelo Bielsa's side set to face Reading and Middlesbrough within seven days of the clash at Kenilworth Road, meaning Nketiah may not be available for those two fixtures either.

Since joining Leeds on a season-long loan from Arsenal at the end of the summer transfer window, Nketiah has scored five goals in 12 appearances in all competitions for the Championship promotion chasers, despite the fact he has yet to start a league game for the club.

Leeds go into the game with Luton third in the Championship standings, only outside the automatic promotion places on goal difference.

The Verdict

This will be a big blow for Leeds.

Nketiah has looked dangerous whenever he has been on the pitch for them this season, and having already had to cope without him for the last two games, they will not want to be without his influence for an extended amount of time.

Indeed, with the game time (or lack of) that he has been getting at Leeds coming under scrutiny recently, an extended enforced absence is unlikely to help their case when Arsenal come to make a decision over his future in January.

With that in mind, the fact that fellow striker Patrick Bamford was able to end his goalscoring drought in the final game before the international break and at least relieve that pressure on himself, is likely to be a big relief for Leeds.
