Pablo Hernandez is set to return to training this week, with it likely that the midfielder will be available to Leeds United for their trip to Millwall on September 15.

The 33-year-old featured in Leeds’ first five fixtures of the Championship season, scoring three goals and adding a further two assists.

Leeds were without Hernandez for last Friday’s goalless draw with Middlesbrough, however, with the midfielder struggling with fatigue.

However, according to Phil Hay from the Yorkshire Evening Post, who was speaking on the Inside Elland Road podcast, Hernandez will be fit to face Millwall: “[Hernandez] it has to be said was definitely missed against Middlesbrough on Friday.

“It does sound like he’ll be back training this week and will be fit for the Millwall game.”

Leeds have picked up 14 points from the opening six fixtures of the season, with Bielsa’s side currently unbeaten heading into the international break.

On September 15 Leeds head to Millwall to face Neil Harris’ side, who last year, ended Leeds’ unbeaten start to the season in the eighth fixture of the season.

The Whites will be looking to avoid a similar result later this month and extend their impressive form under Bielsa.

The Verdict

Leeds missed Hernandez on Friday, with the Whites lacking a cutting edge in attack without the influential midfielder.

It was the type of game that could’ve been decided by a player like Hernandez.

The trip to Millwall could be the same, so Hernandez’s availability is key.

Bielsa will be looking to Hernandez to help his side return to winning ways and avoid a defeat to Millwall, which is something that has become a regular in recent years.
