Leeds United look set to lock horns with Scottish clubs Celtic and Rangers in the race to sign Motherwell winger Marvin Johnson, HITC understands.

Leeds and Celtic are eyeing Johnson

The 24-year-old joined the Lanarkshire club on transfer deadline day earlier this year, and impressed in 12 appearances as the Steelmen secured their Scottish Premiership status.

The former Kidderminster Harriers star’s form has alerted Scottish champions Celtic, who will strengthen over the summer as they look to win their fifth consecutive top-flight title.

They will, however, face competition from Rangers, who are looking to add Johnson to their attacking ranks in the hope of winning promotion from the Scottish Championship.

However, Leeds United will offer the wide-man a return to English football as manager Uwe Rosler looks to bolster his squad ahead of a season in which they will aim to secure a play-off place.

Johnson has one year remaining on his Motherwell contract and manager Ian Baraclough may look to cash in on the winger rather than risk losing him for nothing next year.
