Laurens De Bock is set to confirm a move to Greek side Aris Thessaloniki, report Football Insider.

The left-back has been linked with the club for several weeks and the deal finally looks set to go ahead, despite the delay in its progress over the last few weeks.

According to Football Insider, the 26-year-old will join on a season-long loan, but the move could be made permanent for £500,000 should the club wish to do so.

If that report is accurate, it means that Leeds will suffer a million-pound loss on the player, whom they signed for £1.5m from Club Brugge in January 2018.

He made only seven appearances for The Whites since his arrival and under Marcelo Bielsa he has failed to get close to the first-team squad, spending the entirety of last season on loan at KV Oostende.

It is somewhat surprising that the Argentine isn't considering him for a back-up role given the injury problems which could rule out Barry Douglas and Ezgjan Alioski.

The Verdict

This move was always likely to occur and it is surprising that it has taken this long to go through, with the deal reportedly stumbling due to the player's disagreement over personal terms.

Leeds fans haven't seen the best of what he has to offer but in truth he is a level below Douglas and Alioski, so it is understandable that Bielsa has been keen to move him on.

By allowing him to leave Leeds will have more money to use to their advantage, and they will likely use that to improve their strength in depth in January.
