Phil Hay believes that Leeds will make exceptions to the wage structure for players like Kyle Bartley.

Leeds will be hoping to build on a disappointing first season under the full ownership of Andrea Radrizzani because they finished 15 points outside the play-offs in 13th place.

Improvements need to be made to the squad with Bartley being a name that has been rumoured for a while. He played for Leeds, on loan from Swansea, in the 2016/17 season where they finished, just outside the play-offs, in seventh place under Garry Monk.

Yorkshire Evening Post chief football writer Phil Hay responded to questions from fans on Twitter, and he believes that the wage structure will be ignored for certain players such as Bartley:

The Verdict

This would be a smart move from the board because they need to attract quality players and they can only do that by offering financial incentives.

Having a wage structure is a good idea, but sometimes exceptions need to be made for players that can change a team and Bartley is one of those as seen in his previous spell at the club.

Certainly, it would be a good sign for fans of the Whites that their side is going to start loosening the purse strings a bit.
