Leeds United could make a sensational move for former striker Robbie Keane, according to the Express and Star.

The Republic of Ireland international is a free agent following his release from LA Galaxy, and is wanting to get a move back into the English game, with plenty of talk around Championship clubs being interested in his services.

Record Irish goalscorer Keane played for Leeds back 2001/02, and would offer some experience and class to the Elland Road squad at this stage of the season.

The Leeds squad is predominantly a young one, and Garry Monk may well see Keane as the ideal transfer to come in and help his young team progress.

Keane had a supremely successful time over in America with the Galaxy, and he was adored and loved by fans across the pond. His release though has put clubs in England on high alert though, and Leeds now look to be one of those clubs.

Leeds lost to Barnsley 3-2 last night in a bitter blow to their promotion hopes. They currently occupy a playoff place in the Championship, and will be hoping to add some faces to their squad before the month is out.

Leeds fans, what do you think? Would you take Keane back? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
