Leeds United players await payment for the remaining half of March’s wages according to Sky Sports whilst an independent QC considers Massimo Cellino’s appeal against the Football League.

The understanding is the Leeds players hoped to have been paid the remaining 50 per cent of last month’s wages today, ahead to tonight’s clash with Charlton Athletic at Elland Road.

The squad had agreed to a 50 per cent payment of their wages last week.

Cellino’s appeal hearing took place at a law firm in central London on Monday, also present at the hearing was the Football League chief executive Shaun Harvey, who did not vote in the original decision to block the Italian’s takeover.

Cellino was recently found guilty of tax evasion and has criticised the club and Leeds manager Brian McDermott in a taped conversation.

The hearing took place before Tim Kerr QC, who has not yet set a date on when he would publish the outcome. Sky Sports understand that the judgement won’t be released until Thursday at the least.

If Cellino loses his appeal he may consider taking his case in front of a High Court judge.
