Quoted by The Athletic, Leeds United's Head of Medicine and Performance, Rob Price has revealed how plans at the Whites for the current situation actually began at the end of January.

It wasn't until mid-March that the situation in this country got really serious and we now find ourselves heading into a third week of lockdown and social distancing.

However, the situation began months ago on the other side of the world, but that did not mean Leeds were just sitting on their hands waiting to see what happened.

They were proactive, in a way that will bring reassurance to supporters that the players really are in the best hands possible at the moment, and began planning in January.

Price revealed:

“As a club we started planning really early.

“We saw the warning signs from what was happening in China and it meant that to a certain degree we were ahead of the curve when things started to change here. That made the transition much easier because it wasn’t like we flicked a switch one day and had to make plans overnight. We tried to stay a step ahead so that we weren’t hit with a sudden shutdown and unable to give the players the equipment and the help they needed.”

The Verdict

Away from the players, there are also some massively talented people at the high end of the game and Price and his team have underlined that with their foresight and quick reaction to the developments in China.

Things could have worked differently and their time would have been wasted but, at this stage, every moment they spent has proven worthwhile.

It's this kind of attention to detail and talent that has served Leeds so well across the club in the last couple of years.
