Leeds United are in the chase to sign Rangers centre-back Connor Goldson, according to Football Insider.

The 27-year-old has been an impressive performer for Steven Gerrard's Rangers, and interest appears to be growing in the player with West Ham supposedly in the mix to sign him as well.

Would the former Brighton and Hove Albion man be a good addition at Elland Road though? Would he fit into the Whites team if they got promoted to the Premier League?

The team here at Football League World have had their say on the matter....

This could be a smart bit of business by the Whites.

Bielsa needs to bolster his options at centre-back this summer, with Ben White looking unlikely to join permanently at the end of his loan deal.

Gaetano Berardi's future is also up in the air and I would question whether he has the quality to be playing week in, week out in the Premier League.

That leaves just Liam Cooper and a string of academy players, so clearly it's an area that needs work.

Goldson has been impressive for Rangers over the past two years, showing his capabilities both with and without possession, and you'd imagine he'd jump at the chance of playing in the top flight.

It's always hard to say for certain whether a centre-back will be able to cut it in the Premier League before they've really been tested but his displays at Ibrox would suggest he has what it takes.

The issue that Leeds have this summer is that whoever they sign this summer to play alongside Liam Cooper is going to be compared to Ben White.

White has been terrific and is regarded as one of the best young centre-backs in English football right now. So, can Goldson fill those boots?

He’s got a decent track record, but for my money, is of a similar mould to Cooper. Leeds need a younger option to come in next to their skipper and dictate play in the same ways White does.

That’s the problem facing Leeds and it is testament to how good White has been that it’s going to be so hard to replace him if they go up.

I think this would be a smart bit of business by Leeds if they signed Goldson.

He’s really impressed me since moving to Rangers, and he’s got experience of playing at a high level having played in the Europa League with Steven Gerrard’s side this season.

The defender has previously been on the books with Brighton, and will surely feel as though he’s got a point to prove in the top-flight, as Leeds look to win a long-awaited promotion this season.

I’m not sure he’d be an upgrade on Ben White, who has been brilliant this season with Bielsa’s side, but he’d be a solid option to rely on for the Argentine if they got a deal in place to land his signature in the summer.

They’ll know that they’ll have to act swiftly to come to an agreement for Goldson though, as it wouldn’t come as a surprise to see other club register their interest in his services in the near future.

He’d be a good enough defender to have for a number of sides in the Premier League.
