Marcelo Bielsa has stated that Helder Costa is improving every week after he starred in Leeds' 4-0 victory over Middlesbrough on Saturday.

The Whites are in terrific form and capped off a fine week with yet another brilliant win over Jonathan Woodgate's Boro side.

Costa had a great game for the Whites at Elland Road, and managed to get on the scoresheet when he was in the right place to net the 3rd Leeds goal of the fixture.

Leeds have high hopes for the season and are showing some real ambition to be back in the Premier League. The Whites will be hoping that Costa will continue to be a key player for the side and help Leeds achieve their long-term goal.

Bielsa has expressed that the Portuguese winger is developing and he can do even more to impact games than he did today.

Speaking to Team Talk, Bielsa said: “[Costa] gave a step forward today. He scored. He is developing, but he can show more impact to unbalance the game than he did today. Every week he is improving.

“It’s a long competition. It’s very important we have players who play in different positions, like Pablo [Hernandez], [Stuart] Dallas or [Ezgjan] Alioski. Also important to have two options in each position. Both positions with the same level."

The Verdict

Costa has undoubted quality and in the Championship he's one of the best players in the division on his day.

He's slowly improving and adapting to Bielsa's hard-working style which can be tricky for new players who come into Leeds to get to grip with.

If he can continue to improve and show some of the quality that he did whilst he was at Wolves in their promotion season, then he could play a key part in a potentially successful season for Leeds.
