Leeds United winger Jack Harrison made a bold statement today when he compared the Whites to Manchester City – he was right.

Speaking ahead of Leeds' clash with Nottingham Forest, the City loanee made a comparison between the Championship outfit and the Premier League Champions.

This is a bold comparison, but he is right to make it.

If nothing else, the clubs share the fact they are top of their respective leagues, with both looking like favourites to be in that position in May.

City are famed for their style of play under Pep Guardiola.

The ex-Barcelona legend has rich principles which he believes in - play out from the back, try to break the defensive lines with passes, make the pitch big with the use of positional play and use fast wingers who can create goals.

If you watch Leeds, there are hints of this about them, and they could be described as the Championship's version of City.

But, it isn’t Bielsa copying Guardiola, not that it would be a bad thing to do so, it is the other way round, almost.

When Guardiola finished his playing career, he went on a pilgrimage to Argentina, having long chats with Leeds boss about football and tactics.

They shared ideas and philosophies and both are reaping successes now.

Harrison is enjoying his time at Elland Road so far, and hopefully for City fans he can return following a year of learning from a very well respected coach.

His comparison is true and this can only work well for Leeds, who are looking to imitate City’s exciting style of play.
