Leeds United manager Garry Monk has revealed he did not have any expectations or pre-conceived ideas about his appointment at the club, in a report with Inside Futbol.

Monk has been hugely successful in his first season in charge at the club and they look well set to reach the playoffs and have a shot at getting back in the big time. With controversial owner Massimo Cellino going through plenty of managers before appointing Monk, many thought the former Swansea manager would not last.

However, Monk has revealed he did not set any expectations when he took the job. Monk said:

“I’m not one of those characters who pre-judge. Yes, you are aware of everything that has been going on, so I was aware of the history, especially of the last decade.

“But I’m one of those who likes to judge on what I see, you know, make my own mind up."

Leeds have been excellent for the majority of the campaign under Monk, and Cellino has backed his manager with plenty of money in the transfer market, with the likes of Kemar Roofe, Pontus Jansson, and Pablo Hernandez among a host of names to sign on at Elland Road.
