Quoted by Football Insider, former Leeds player Noel Whelan has suggested that young goalkeeper Will Huffer will leave the club in the summer and look elsewhere for the next stage of his career.

The Whites have got themselves on the brink of promotion to the Premier League but they are being forced to wait things out with the way things are at the moment across the globe.

When they are back in action, though, the onus will be on the players to get the job done and get back into the top flight.

Can you remember when these Leeds players joined the club?

However, regardless of what division they are in next season, Whelan feels as though Huffer would be best off if he moved away from Yorkshire and progressed his career elsewhere.

He said:

“I think he has played his last game for Leeds.

“It looks like we are going to sign Meslier, we have still got Kiko Casilla and I think we need another experienced goalkeeper behind us – that is a must if we are in the Premier League. Key positions need key players.

“It might be his last game. I think he needs to work his trade somewhere else because he is not going to get time at Leeds United. He should progress his career somewhere else and free up some space for someone more experienced.”

The Verdict

This seems a fair enough assumption from Whelan, and Huffer may well be thinking about his next move already in the current off-period.

He is out of contract at the club in the summer and with other goalkeepers in front of him, now might be a good time to end his association with the Whites.

He'll have learned a great deal, but he'll want to be playing sooner rather than later and this summer could be the ideal moment for things to change.
