Leeds United supporters were left frustrated by the news that Kemar Roofe is set for a spell on the sidelines with a knee injury.

In a pre-match press conference (quotes sourced from Leeds Live), then, Marcelo Bielsa revealed that Tyler Roberts would be handed a start in Roofe's absence.

Roberts has been out of the first-team picture ever since Patrick Bamford returned to the fold, and he has been limited to appearances for the Leeds under 23's side in recent weeks.

The 20-year-old has made just eight league starts under Marcelo Bielsa and he hasn't made a notable impact for the Whites this season as they challenge for promotion.

Roberts has three league goals to his name and will be hoping he can make his start count this weekend when Leeds take on Bolton Wanderers this weekend.

But if the forward has any hopes to retain his place in the starting XI ahead of Roofe when he returns, then he is going to need to start by making a notable contribution on Saturday.

Roberts needs to prove to Marcelo Bielsa that he can be the man to fill the void left by Roofe in this Leeds side.

Roofe's injury couldn't have come at a worse time and Roberts has big shoes to fill as Roofe has been Leeds' main outlet for goals this season.

The Welshman needs to be confident going into this game, otherwise, Bielsa will have no hesitancy in substituting the youngster against Bolton.
