Gaetano Berardi is looking to hand Leeds United a huge boost when they face Norwich City early next month, with the Swiss defender targeting the fixture as his return date.

Leeds have been without Berardi since October, after the versatile defender picked up a hamstring problem in a 2-0 victory over Ipswich Town.

The club announced that Berardi was facing four months on the sidelines, which is nearly up.

According to Phil Hay at the Yorkshire Evening Post, Berardi is targeting a return on February 2, when Leeds take on Norwich at Elland Road under the floodlights.

It’s a game between two of the automatic promotion hopefuls and could go a long way to deciding who is playing top-flight football next season.

Between now and then Leeds have two challenging away fixtures, though.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side travel to the bet365 Stadium on Saturday afternoon to take on Stoke City in what will be Nathan Jones’ first home game in charge of the Potters.

The following weekend the Whites will take on Rotherham United, who will be looking to avenge the 2-0 defeat Leeds inflicted on them back in August.

The Verdict

What a boost this will be for Leeds.

The 30-year-old might not be a guaranteed starter in this side, but his versatility makes him so important to Bielsa and his squad.

With the injury luck the Whites have had this season, this is more than welcome.
