Kalvin Phillips is attracting a lot of interest from Premier League clubs after Leeds United failed to secure promotion at the end of the season.
Aston Villa appear to be the front-runners to secure the midfielder’s services but he has also been linked with a move to Norwich, Bournemouth and Newcastle.
But how will Phillips be feeling amid the growing transfer rumours?
The 23-year-old was born in Leeds and it would no doubt be hard for him to leave his hometown club. However, his performances under Marco Bielsa this season have shown he is ready for the Premier League and needs to challenge himself beyond the Championship.
Several players that have left Leeds in recent years for big transfer fees, such as Chris Wood and Fabian Delph, have gone on to be successful in the Premier League and Phillips could look to their achievements as examples of how to make the jump from the Championship to the Premier League.
With several clubs thought to be interested, Phillips may be wondering which club would be the best fit. If Aston Villa lose Jack Grealish then their midfield would be significantly weaker, leaving space for a new signing to claim. Equally, he may look at a club like Bournemouth who have a good track record of looking after players – David Brooks impressed in his first season in the Premier League after an £11.5 million move from Sheffield United last summer.
While Leeds will no doubt be desperate to hold on to one of their best players from last season, it will be hard for Phillips to resist interest from the Premier League if it comes his way.
