Leeds United's Ezgjan Alioski has had a swipe at Manchester United ahead of the Whites FA Cup tie against Arsenal on Monday evening.

After a poor season so far, the Gunners are now under new management and Mikel Arteta's side produced a dominant display to beat the Red Devils 2-0 in their previous fixture ahead of taking on Leeds.

Therefore, Alioski was asked at a press conference ahead of the game whether that made the trip to North London more daunting but he made it clear that he didn't Ole Gunnar Solskjær's side are up to much right now.

"Even I saw the result against Manchester United, but the Manchester United from this year - even we can beat them. But we don't need to watch what they do in the league or where they are."

Despite Arsenal's improvement under their new Spanish boss, Leeds will head to the Emirates with confidence. They are top of the Championship having collected 52 points from 26 games and hold a nine-point lead in the race for automatic promotion.

The verdict

Given the rivalry that exists between Leeds and Manchester United you can be sure that the Whites fans will love this little dig by Alioski.

Whether he's joking or not we don't know but if the two sides did meet it would be a close game given how Leeds are performing this season.

Of course, they will be hoping to put that to the test next season and it's looking like the rivalry will resume within the next 12 months.
