Eunan O'Kane has revealed that he is edging closer to a return to injury, following an extended spell on the sidelines.

The 28-year-old midfielder broke his leg during Luton Town's 1-0 win over Britol Rovers in what was just his third appearance of a loan spell at Kenilworth Road, with the midfielder out of action ever since, having subsequently returned to Leeds following his injury.

Now however it seems as those the Irishman is nearing a return to fitness following his long spell on the sidelines, after posting an image on Snapchat of a pair of football boots with the caption "7 and a half months later" hinting at a return to the training pitch.

Prior to his loan move to Kenilworth Road in the summer, O'Kane had made 58 appearances for the Elland Road side following his move from Premier League club Bournemouth in the summer of 2016.

Before his broken leg, O'Kane had been due to remain on loan with the League One promotion contenders until January.

The verdict

After so long out on the sidelines, this will surely be a huge relief for O'Kane.

Whether or not he will be able to force his way back into contention at Leeds remains to be seen, although given the club's performances this season, and the time O'Kane has had out of the game, it feels like that could be a daunting task for the Irishman.
