Leeds United have made an approach to sign Italian international striker Marco Borriello, according to news outlet La Nuevo Sardegna.

The report claims that Leeds owner Massimo Cellino has made contact with the striker's club Cagliari about doing a deal, but as yet has been rebuffed in his attempts to sign the experienced front man.

Borriello has bags of experience, and at 34 is no doubt coming towards the end of his illustrious career. However, this has not stopped him impressing this season for Cagliari, where he has banged in 11 goals at the halfway point of the season.

The Italian international - he has 7 caps for his country - has represented plenty of clubs in his career, with spells at AC Milan, Roma, and and Juventus all to his name.

Any move for Borriello would obviously require Cagliari's approval, and Leeds might well have to play the waiting game if they are serious about bringing in the striker.

Manager Garry Monk is keen to bolster his options in January, especially up top, as he looks to add some more players to supplement and support the goals of Chris Wood.

Leeds fans, what do you think to this? Good signing? Can you pull it off? Let us know!
