Luke Ayling is looking to win promotion back to the Premier League with Leeds United this season.

Leeds sit top of the Championship table with nine games remaining, with Marcelo Bielsa’s side in a strong position to kick on when the season can eventually resume.

The right-back has been a regular in the side since arriving from Bristol City in 2016, but Ayling hasn’t forgotten the success he had at his past club, where he won a promotion from League One.

Yesterday, Luke Freeman shared a throwback post from April 18th 2015, the day that Bristol City secured the League One title on the back of a goalless draw with Coventry City.

Re-posting Freeman’s message, Ayling wrote: “What a great day, with an even better bunch of lads.”

That season, Ayling made 58 appearances across all competitions for the Robins, scoring four goals for a side littered with talent.

Alongside the talented Freeman and Ayling were the likes of Aden Flint and Joe Bryan, two regulars across the Championship with Cardiff City and Fulham.

The Verdict

It was a great day for Ayling and his Bristol City teammates when they secured promotion back to the Championship, with this post showing he’s not forgotten a memorable day.

The focus for Ayling now will be to add another promotion to his CV, but this time with Leeds United.

The Whites are on the cusp of something special, and Ayling will hope he can help them over the line in the coming months.
