Leeds United's move for Derby County striker Matej Vydra could be in doubt, with the Whites lining up a £5m move for Middlesbrough man Patrick Bamford if the move does come to a halt.

The news, reported today by the Mirror (print edition, Saturday 28th July), will be a big update for Leeds fans who had been expecting to see the Czech international complete a big money move to Elland Road in the coming days.

However, Vyrdra's reported wage demands of £50k a week are looking like putting off the Yorkshire club, and they could now move onto former Derby and Chelsea striker Bamford, as they look to add a star name to lead the line for them next season under new manager Marcelo Bielsa.

The transfer window thus far has been a frustrating one for Leeds and their fans, who had expected to see the club make a host of new signings. However, they keep missing out on targets, with the likes of John Egan and Kyle Bartley both opting for moves to other clubs.

Derby themselves are in a ticky situation, with the sale of Vydra potentially impacting any move for Ipswich striker Martyn Waghorn. The Rams have already signed Peterborough hotshot Jack Marriott this week, as Frank Lampard looks to guide the club back to the Premier League.
