Leeds legend offers his verdict ahead of tonight’s Yorkshire derby

Published

on

Leeds United take on Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United tonight in what is a huge game for both clubs.

The Whites got back to winning ways last weekend with a 3-0 triumph at Bristol City and are just four points, and one place, behind the Blades who are third after a terrific start to the season.

That increases the importance of tonight’s game, that will be the first fixture between the teams since 2011. Elland Road will be packed out and it promises to be a memorable night.

Leeds legend Eddie Gray is predicting a thriller tonight too, telling LUTV that he fancies the hosts to emerge with a 3-2 victory.

Thomas Christiansen raised the stakes ahead of tonight’s game in the week, by implying that they need to win but it will be a tough task against Chris Wilder’s men.

Whilst Leeds rotated players, they still had a game in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, whereas the Blades had a full week to prepare for this game. The visitors know that they will go top of the league with a win, even if it is only for 24 hours.

The Verdict

It should be a cracking game at Elland Road tonight. With a big crowd and two very good teams it’s a fine game for the neutral to enjoy on Sky TV.

Eddie Gray is certainly expecting that given his prediction, although Whites fans will take any score as long as they beat their rivals tonight.

Whilst defeat wouldn’t be catastrophic, with so many games to play, Thomas Christiansen is aware of how tough a seven-point deficit could be and will be desperate for three points.

Thoughts, Leeds fans? What will the score be tonight? Let us know in the comments below.
