Luke Freeman has emerged as a transfer target for Leeds United, with the Whites monitoring the midfielder ahead of the summer window.

Leeds are pushing for promotion in the Championship this season under Marcelo Bielsa, but Freeman put a dent in their top-two hopes recently, scoring against them in a 1-0 defeat to Queens Park Rangers.

Now, talkSPORT are reporting that Leeds have an eye on Freeman heading into the summer, with the Whites considering a move for 26-year-old.

The report does state that Leeds’ success in that pursuit is likely to depend on what division they are in next season, with promotion increasing their chances.

Freeman has been in impressive form at Loftus Road this season under Steve McClaren, once again proving his worth to the R’s.

In 34 appearances he’s scored seven Championship goals, as well as registering four assists.

He was in similar form last season, too, scoring five times and registering a mammoth 12 assists despite QPR’s mediocre season under Ian Holloway.

In addition to Freeman, talkSPORT understand that there is also interest in Eberechi Eze, with Leeds identifying the 20-year-old as another potential target.

The Verdict

This is exactly the type of signing that Leeds fans would love to see their club make in the summer.

Freeman has shown his class at Loftus Road for a good couple of years now, with his performance in the recent win over Leeds exceptional.

The craft he brings would complement what Leeds currently have in their squad, even in the Premier League, with Freeman, like Leeds, looking ready to step up.
