Leeds United are keen to capitalise on Carlos Corberan's Huddersfield Town exit by bringing him back to Elland Road as a first team coach, according to a report from Football Insider.

The Championship club confirmed yesterday that Corberan had left, with reports suggesting it was due to a disagreement over how to take the Terriers forward, and Danny Schofield has been appointed as his replacement.

The Spaniard made his name as Leeds U23s boss and one of Marcelo Bielsa's understudies before leaving to take charge at Huddersfield in 2020 but it seems the Whites are now plotting a return.

Football Insider has reported that the Premier League club have set their sights on Corberan after yesterday's news of his departure.

The report claims that Leeds need a new first team coach and Corberan still has a strong relationship with director of football Victor Orta.

It has previously been suggested that Corberan's plans after leaving Huddersfield were to return to Spain.

The Verdict

Losing Corberan was a gutting blow for Huddersfield and it would be even more frustrating were he to return to local rivals Leeds.

It remains to be seen whether the Spanish coach is open to rejoining the Whites but you can certainly understand why they're interested while his close relationship with Orta would seem to suggest it was a possibility.

Given his success at the John Smith's Stadium, however, he may feel it is best to wait it out for another management opportunity.

His stock is surely high after he took the Terriers to the play-off final last season so his should not be short of offers if he is willing to be patient.
