Nottingham Forest are set to be joined in the race to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White this summer by Leeds United, according to The Athletic.

Not long after defeating Huddersfield Town at Wembley in the Championship play-off final to secure their spot in the Premier League, Forest were linked with an ambitious swoop for the 22-year-old by Alan Nixon.

Gibbs-White scored 13 times in all competitions on loan at Sheffield United during the 2021-22 season, as well as notching 10 assists on top of that, and that form has seen major interest in securing his signature.

His future at Molineux is uncertain after being shipped out on loan once again, although the club's hierarchy have offered the playmaker a new contract to try and keep him around - however per The Athletic, he needs convincing that Wolves is the best place for his future.

Forest are looking to strike whilst the iron is hot, but Leeds and Jesse Marsch are now keen on Gibbs-White, despite splashing out on USA international Brenden Aaronson, who plays in a similar position.

The Verdict

Gibbs-White is set to be a man in-demand this summer as he weighs up his options.

A return to the Championship is surely not on the agenda, and that would rule Sheffield United out of the equation following his successful loan spell at Bramall Lane.

Having been loaned out for the last one-and-a-half seasons by Wolves, you cannot blame the attacking midfielder for considering his future.

Even though Bruno Lage is apparently keen on now integrating Gibbs-White into his team, there are several other top flight clubs who could offer him more game-time - Forest and Leeds are two of those - and it will be interesting to see which clubs wins the race for his signature.
