Former Barnsley and Leeds United manager Paul Heckingbottom has been appointed Hibernian's new head coach having agreed a three-and-a-half-year contract, and will be assisted by former Scotland international Robbie Stockdale, it has been confirmed on the club website.

Heckingbottom was sacked by Leeds in June after only four months in charge, having finished 13th in the Championship but went on to join Barnsley, who he led to promotion from League One and the Football League Trophy.

So will Heckingbottom be a success at Hibs after his spells at Barnsley and Leeds?

We discuss.....

Louie Chandler

"I think he will.

"Heckingbottom gets a ridiculously harsh press for time with Leeds, given he is only 41.

"Hopefully, Hibs will give him the time he needs and in a less pressured environment, I fancy him to thrive."

Gary Hutchinson

“He can be.

“Leave his Leeds spell out of it, he did great at Barnsley.

“Leeds is a different kettle of fish altogether.

“As long as he’s happy being third or lower every season, he’ll be fine.”

Alfie Burns

“A move out of the spotlight in England will do Heckingbottom the world of good.

“His Leeds spell was poor, but the club weren’t in a great position when he arrived.

“This will give him a chance to rebuild his reputation, which is something a good young coach deserves.”

Jacob Potter

"I think he’ll be a success.

"Heckingbottom has had a lengthy spell out of the game, and that is exactly what he needed after a poor spell at Leeds.

"This is the perfect time and place for him to return to football management."
