Championship side Leeds United are hopeful of beating Premier League side Manchester United for the signature of Serie A side Cagliari defender Davide Astori according to caughtoffside.com.
Astori is attracting interest from some of England’s top clubs including Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspurs but are still optimistic of landing the Italian defender.
The 27-year old defender is valued at around £8 million but Leeds can land him for £4 million due to the connections that owner Massimo Cellino has with the club.
Italian giants Lazio are also interested in his signature so the race to sign Astori is heating up and it would be a major coup for the club to attain his signature.
Astori started 34 league games for the Sardinian side in this past seasons campaign in which they finished 15th.
