Leeds United are interested in signing Milton Keynes Dons midfielder Ousseynou Cisse, according to the print edition of The Sun on Sunday via HITC Sport.
MK Dons face a real battle to keep Cisse with Leeds and Blackburn Rovers interested.
The Championship duo have been impressed by the powerful central midfielder, who can also play as a centre-half, and they face competition from German Bundesliga side Augsburg and Belgian side Club Brugge.
Standing at 6ft 5in tall, the dominant midfield man has stood out for Milton Keynes this season but could not prevent them from suffering relegation to League Two.
Due to their relegation, the five-cap Mali international has a clause in his contract allowing him to move away from Stadium:mk for a small price.
Leeds and Blackburn are now eyeing a bargain swoop for the 27-year-old, who played 36 games for the Buckinghamshire based team this season.
The 27-year-old has played for a number of teams prior to his move to England last summer, including French sides Amiens, Dijon and Tours, Belgian side Waasland-Beveren and Spanish outfit Rayo Vallecano.
Cisse also spent time in the academy at PSG before moving to Amiens.
Now he is a summer target for four teams as he looks set to leave Milton Keynes, with Leeds among the interested parties.
The Verdict
If Leeds are eyeing Cisse as a first-team regular, then they are not aiming anywhere near high enough.
Whether he could break into a central midfield area including Ronaldo Vieira, Adam Forshaw and Kalvin Phillips remains to be seen.
But if he is signed as a cheap back-up, then he may be a decent squad option who can provide cover for those central midfielders and fill in at centre-back if need be.
