Leeds United forward Izzy Brown has paid tribute to his former Brighton and Hove Albion teammate Bruno Saltor after the 38-year-old played his last professional game of football.

The Seagulls' defender was substituted to a standing ovation in the closing stages of their 4-1 defeat to Manchester City on the final day of the Premier League season and Brown paid tribute to him from his home.

Posting alongside a photograph from the match, Brown wrote on his Instagram story: "My man @Brunosaltor, what a player & what a captain."

The Chelsea loanee's current side head into the second-leg of the Championship play-off semi-final with Derby County with a 1-0 lead.

After a closely thought first half at Pride Park, Leeds took the lead just before the hour mark when Jack Harrison's excellent pass was slotted home by Kemar Roofe.

The visitors survived immense pressure, some penalty controversy and got away with a red-card decision before the final whistle finally blew.

In the other semi-final it was Aston Villa who took the advantage into their second-leg against West Brom after triumphing 2-1 at Villa Park.

The verdict

It is no real surprise to see Brown paying homage to Saltor.

The Spaniard has been enormously influential in Brighton's rise to success and although Brown only spent a year there, it is still no surprise that he felt his impact.

Leeds fans will be hoping it will inspire some late season form from the Chelsea loanee.
