Leeds United look to be close to sealing the signing of Romanian midfielder Alexandru Maxim, according to Romanian news outlet Digi Sport, via HITC Sport.

The Stuttgart midfielder has long been a target for Leeds, and he came close to signing for the club last season when Garry Monk tracked the 26-year-old throughout the season, before walking away from the club at the end of the campaign.

Leeds will have to fork out a fee to the Bundesliga club to land the midfielder, with Maxim on a contract until 2019, although it is believed he is considering his future at the club as he seeks a new challenge.

Maxim has been in impressive form for Stuttgart for a number of seasons now, and the Romanian and he has 16 goals during his time with the German club, while he has also amassed 27 caps for his country.

A move to Leeds has been on the cards for quite some time now, and if a deal is completed, it would represent the club's second signing of the summer, following the capture of Hadi Sacko on a permanent deal last week.

Leeds fans, what do you think to this? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
