Kemar Roofe was back at Thorp Arch 24 hours after injuring his knee ligaments in Leeds United’s victory over Swansea City, with the forward looking to do double sessions to reduce his time on the sidelines.

Leeds’ Head of Medicine and Performance Rob Price has revealed the lengths Roofe has gone to as he looks to return to Marcelo Bielsa’s promotion-chasing squad.

“One of the big things that Kemar did the day after was say ‘I want to be doing double sessions, I want to be making myself as strong as possible’," Price revealed to LUTV.

“He’s a really, really good pro and I think the fact that he’s worked so hard is going to reduce his time out.

“So he’s already in the gym doing some work on the muscles around the knee to try and stabilise it, but we’ve got to do it with a specific range of movements so we don’t stress the ligament that's healing.”

The 26-year-old’s setback came prior to Leeds’ 10-day break in the Championship, with Bielsa even granting his players four days off ahead of last Saturday’s clash with Bolton Wanderers.

However, Roofe has been working hard on his injury, with the forward expected to be out of his leg brace at around three weeks.

The 14-goal former Oxford man has hopes of returning before the end of the season, as Leeds look to edge their way over the line in the race for promotion.

Roofe’s goals have helped put Leeds in a great position, with Bielsa’s side able to overcome Bolton on Saturday without their top goalscorer.

Now, attention turns to tonight’s clash with QPR, with Leeds looking for a third consecutive victory.

The Verdict

What commitment from Roofe.

The forward could’ve quite easily taken his days off and avoided starting rehab as soon as possible, but he’s clearly itching to get back on the field.

Bielsa will appreciate that work, as will the club’s supporters, with this a show of just how much playing for the club means to Roofe.
