Sheffield United lost ground on their automatic promotion rivals Leeds United at the weekend, when a 1-1 draw with Millwall meant a three point gap opened up between the Blades and the Whites, currently in second place in the Championship.

Blades manager Chris Wilder has received a further blow, with the news that Billy Sharp and Chris Basham will be missing for their clash against Nottingham Forest on Friday, a damaging loss at such a crucial stage of the season.

But how will Leeds fans be feeling after the news that the Blades have lost a key player duo?

We discuss........

George Harbey

"They should be hugely excited about this potential blow to their local and promotion rivals.

"It's hard to put into words how important the pair are to Chris Wilder's men - Sharp scores goals for fun and Basham has been part of a solid three-man defence.

"It would be so unlucky for the Blades if they were to lose those two players, but Leeds fans won't care one bit."

Gary Hutchinson

“It’s a massive hit, but it’s not fatal for Sheff Utd.

“Any blow at all will give their rivals hope though, so Leeds fans will be delighted.

“The Blades can cover the losses, but even the smallest gains right now can be huge in terms of the final outcome this season.”

Jacob Potter

"Leeds fans will be loving this.

"Sharp and Egan have been crucial for Sheffield United at both ends of the pitch and they’ll be a huge miss for Chris Wilder’s side when they take on Nottingham Forest in what will be a tough test of their promotion credentials.

"It’s all falling into place for Marcelo Bielsa’s side to make a long-awaited return to the Premier League."
