It’s been a good start to the season for Leeds United with them striving to finally get themselves promoted from the Championship.
The Whites have excelled under Marcelo Bielsa with him getting a fine tune out of a bunch of players that, largely, underperformed last year.
Certainly, it shows what good coaching could do and recent transfer rumours will also go some way to underline the transformation we’ve seen at Elland Road.
Indeed, according to Teamtalk the likes of Arsenal and Everton are interested in midfielder Kalvin Phillips.
The central player has done well this season and seems to have kept those that criticised him last year quiet – despite a couple of early hooks from games this year.
For sure, with him still in his early 20’s it’s clear that he’s got great potential to become a top player for the Whites so to see him now linked away will concern.
Leeds are getting to a stage now where, quite possibly, they could be promoted with this team and to lose members of the squad – key members at that – will be a worry before the season is out.
However, if you can take solace from such a story that could potentially develop, it shows just the impact that Bielsa has had.
Phillips divided opinion last season and some wanted him gone; Bielsa’s work has turned him, already, into a better player that is apparently highly-fancied.
Regardless of whether Phillips leaves in the near future or not, then, Leeds at least know that their current manager is well-suited to devising a more than good enough contingency plan.
And, in many ways, that revelation from this story should at least be welcomed.
