For Leeds United fans, the season just gone ended in sheer despair, with the West Yorkshire club missing out on promotion in dramatic fashion.

After seeing Sheffield United pip them to the post in terms of automatic promotion, the Whites then threw away the chance at advancing to the play-off finals when Derby overturned a first-leg deficit to book their shot at a place back in the top flight.

It was a bittersweet season for Leeds fans on the whole then, who saw their team player some of the finest football they have seen for years at Elland Road, but ultimately came up short despite Marcelo Bielsa's best efforts.

With the summer now here, plenty of the Leeds players are going to be under microscope in terms of a summer sale, and one man who is going to attract plenty of admiring glances is young winger Jack Clarke.

Indeed, the club have already reportedly moved this week to turn down an offer from Spurs to sign the youngster, with the Whites holding firm in the face of interest from Spurs.

But how will Leeds fans be thinking now knowing their club is taking this stance early in the summer?

Well, we here at FLW feel that Whites supporters will be delighted to see their club taking such an approach, especially in a day and age where it is so easy to succumb to the lure of Premier League riches as soon as the so called 'big guns' come calling.

In Clarke, Leeds fans have a player who they can regard as one of their own, and he is a player who can bring the fans together over the course of next season as the club look to put the disappointment of this campaign behind them.

The Elland Road faithful love to cheer on one of their own talents, and Clarke is right up their with the best they have produced in recent years.

Clarke will be imperative to how Leeds get on next season, and their fans can - for the time being - rest easy in the knowledge that their club are doing all they can to resist a quick sale of their prized asset.
