Leeds United are one of four clubs plotting a loan move for Liverpool attacker Rhian Brewster in the January transfer window, a report from the Daily Mirror has claimed.

Brewster, who made his senior debut for Liverpool with two appearances in the Carabao Cup earlier this season, is yet to make a league appearance for the Premier League leaders, and it is thought that he could be sent out on loan in January in order to earn more game time.

That is something that appears to have caught the attention of Leeds as they look for another attacking outlet in their bid for promotion to the Premier League, although it may not be easy for the Elland Road side to secure his services temporarily.

According to the latest reports, Aston Villa are currently leading the race for the youngster, while another Premier League side - Crystal Palace - are also said to be interested in the 19-year-old.

There is also interest from elsewhere in the Championship, with Swansea City also reportedly considering a move for the teenager.

A former Liverpool academy manager, current Swansea boss Steve Cooper was in charge of England's Under 17s side when they lifted the 2017 World Cup at that age group, a tournament in which Brewster claimed the Golden Boot to go with his winner's medal, scoring eight goals across his side's seven matches.

The Verdict

It could be difficult for either Leeds or Swansea to secure Brewster's services here.

With Brester yet to gain any Premier League experience, Liverpool may well be tempted to send him to one of those top-flight sides who are apparently interested in him in order to give him the opportunity to get to grips with the top flight.

Indeed, when you consider the scrutiny that the loan spells the likes of Eddie Nketiah and Jack Clarke are experiencing at Leeds right now, you have to wonder how willing Liverpool would be to send Brewster to Elland Road, given that lack of a guarantee of game time there seems to be.

On the flip side to that, it could be argued that Cooper's previous work with both Liverpool and Brewster could yet prove to give Swansea an added advantage in the race to secure the services of the youngster on a temporary basis, considering both may be happy to work with him again.
