Leeds United are considering a move for Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson, according to The Yorkshire Post.

The Whites could lose Bailey Peacock-Farrell as Wolves are linked with a £4m swoop for the young goalkeeper so Leeds are eyeing a swoop for Henderson.

The 21-year-old impressed on loan at Shrewsbury Town last season, keeping 19 clean sheets, being named in the PFA League One Team of the Season and guiding his side to the League One play-off final (which they lost to Rotherham United).

This has alerted a number of sides, especially with his contract at Manchester United set to run out this summer.

The Yorkshire Post believes that Leeds face competition from Aston Villa, Sheffield United and Swansea City for the England under-21 international, while The Sun has recently reported interest from Premier League new boys Fulham, as well as Championship duo Stoke City and Bristol City.

Premier League giants Arsenal and Chelsea are also linked, alongside European trio Olympiacos, Roma and Benfica.

Henderson could be available for as little as £1m this summer but The Daily Mail reports that he is on the verge of signing a three-year deal with Man United.

But the Red Devils are keen to loan Henderson out again next season, meaning Leeds and their rivals could be scrapping for his temporary services.

The Verdict

After an incredibly impressive season in League One, the young stopper is surely ready for Championship football, meaning he would be the short-term and long-term solution to Leeds' goalkeeper problems if he did join on a permanent deal.

Aston Villa will be hoping to snare him on the cheap (or on loan) considering their financial crisis, as he would be a decent replacement for another Man United goalkeeper - Sam Johnstone - who they have had on loan.

If Sheffield United fail to land Jamal Blackman, Henderson would be an adequate alternative while Swansea and Stoke will be hoping that he can arrive if they lose Lukasz Fabianski or Jack Butland respectively.
