There could be further approaches for Dan James when the summer transfer window comes around, with Leeds United amongst those who could remake their move for the impressive Swansea City winger.

Leeds were in hot pursuit of James during the January transfer window, with Marcelo Bielsa’s side falling agonisingly short of securing the 21-year-old’s service.

The deal fell through at the eleventh hour after Swansea pulled the plug on talks, leaving Leeds ruing their attempt at late business.

Now, Wales Online are reporting that there could be further interest in James when the summer comes around, either from Leeds or the Premier League, as the Welshman continues to impress at both club level and on the international stage.

James is currently contracted to Swansea until the summer of 2020, but the report highlights that the Welsh club are looking to retain the service of a player going from strength-to-strength this season.

In 24 Championship appearances this season James has two goals and four assists, whilst he added a goal to that tally in the FA Cup.

Ryan Giggs has also placed some big faith in the winger on the international stage, with James scoring the winning goal in Wales’ 1-0 win over Slovakia yesterday afternoon.

The Verdict

James’ form at this moment in time is going to be alerting more than just Leeds to his talent.

Leeds know what he’s all about and it’d be a surprise if there wasn’t contact again in the summer, particularly after how January went. However, James is in electric form and might have more lucrative offers on the table in June.

The Whites will be regretting not getting this done in January.
