Leeds United have confirmed this afternoon that young striker Jack Clarke has signed a new contract with the club.

The youngster turned 17-years-old today and that made him eligible for a new deal with an agreement in principle revealed at the beginning of the week.

Indeed, it's a good idea with the young player potentially attracting the interest of Premier League sides and now Leeds should be able to see him develop in the coming years.

It's certainly a positive for the Whites as they aim for a bright future and they have confirmed the deal on their official Twitter account:

It's his first pro deal, then, but this is now the moment where young players have to kick on and make a reputation for themselves instead of settling.

He's been given the indication that he has the potential to make it but only if he put in the hard graft and continues to hone his talents.

It's also another nod to Leeds trying to improve their youth set-up and Whites fans will be pleased to see that the back-room staff appear very on the ball when it comes to getting the young talents signed to new deals.

The Verdict

This one has been touted for a few days and now it has been completed.

Clarke now needs to knuckle down and get himself towards the first team where the club evidently feels he could get to in due course.
