Barry Douglas is on the verge of another promotion from the Championship with Leeds United, with the full-back looking to match the feat he achieved with Wolves back in 2017/18.

Leeds signed Douglas on the back of that promotion-winning campaign at Molineux, where the Scot scored five goals and registered an impressive 14 assists for Nuno Santo’s side.

He’s not hit those heights in Leeds, however, and has made only 13 appearances across all competitions this season and Marcelo Bielsa’s side sit nine games away from promotion.

The EFL season is currently on hold as public health takes priority, which has led to Douglas reflecting on a memorable day in his Wolves career, as Nuno’s side won the Championship title with a 4-0 victory over Bolton.

Taking to Twitter, Douglas offered a simple reply to a reminder of the game:

That day in Bolton, Douglas opened the scoring, with Benik Afobe, Diogo Jota and Conor Coady wrapping up the points and a convincing 4-0 scoreline – plus, of course, the Championship title.

Leeds are on course to match Wolves’ Championship title, with nine games separating the current league leaders from Premier League football and silverware.

The Verdict

Douglas had some great times during his season with Wolves, with the full-back really central to what Nuno’s side achieved.

He would’ve hoped his Leeds spell would go the same way, but although he’s not as involved, the 30-year-old isn’t far away from a second Championship title in three seasons.
