Leeds and Hull go head to head in the battle for £2m rated League One ace

A duo of Championship clubs are pursuing a deal for Oxford United star Marvin Johnson, according to an exclusive report by Football Insider.

Marvin Johnson is hot property this summer and Oxford United value their prize asset at £2m.

Football Insider sources believe that both Leeds United and Hull City are lining up moves for Marvin Johnson this summer.

The versatile star, who plays as a left winger but was operating as a left back more often last season, joined Oxford United from Scottish Premiership side Motherwell last summer.

Johnson played 51 games in all competitions in his first season at Oxford United as they fell narrowly short of reaching the play-offs and lost in the Checkatrade Trophy final against Coventry City.

Marvin Johnson has featured in both of Oxford’s games this season and he scored a rebound after missing a penalty in the clash with Cheltenham in the cup.

This is not the first time that Oxford United have had to fend off interest in the 26-year-old; he has previously been scouted by more than thirty clubs, according to The Scottish Sun, with even the likes of Manchester City and Celtic keen on him.

Championship pair Leeds United and Hull City are now ready to go head to head for Marvin Johnson before the window slams shut later this month.

The Verdict

Marvin Johnson has pace, energy and attacking flair.

Since being reborn as a left back, his defensive game has come on loads as well, making him the all-rounded left-sided player.

At £2m in today’s market, Johnson could prove to be a steal as Leeds eye reinforcements at left back and left wing and Hull continue to search for Andrew Robertson’s replacement at full back.
