The Sky Bet Championship is an ideal place for young players to make their mark, whether that is on loan from a Premier League club, or just coming through the ranks at a Championship club.

Last season, it was the turn of Tammy Abraham on loan at Bristol City, and Ryan Sessegnon of Fulham to really make their mark in the Championship.

With the new season round the corner, this article looks at FIVE teenagers that could play a big role for their teams in the Championship this season...

  1. Joel Asoro - Sunderland:

Sunderland may struggle to keep hold of Swedish Under 21 international striker Joel Asoro, with reported interest in him from Europe's top clubs.

However, if the 18-year-old does stay, he could definitely make an impact at The Stadium of Light. The youngster has superb dribbling ability, as well having the composure in front of goal to be an accurate finisher.

At youth international level, Asoro has a very impressive goalscoring record, having bagged 14 goals in 21 games for Sweden Under 17's, and 1 goal in 5 games for Sweden Under 21's.

He will have to compete with new signings James Vaughan and Lewis Grabban for a place up front, as Sunderland look to replace influential striker Jermain Defoe.

2. Andre Dozzell - Ipswich Town:

At the age of 18, Andre Dozzell has already made 8 league appearances for Ipswich, scoring one goal. As well as this, Dozzell has been capped for England at every level up the Under 19's.

Following an impressive summer for the Ipswich born man, where he was a part of the England Under 19 team that won the European Championship, it will be no surprise if he has a big impact on the Championship for Ipswich this season.

The youngster will want to follow in the footsteps of his Dad, who is an Ipswich Town legend, having made over 300 appearances for the club.

Dozzell is a midfielder with an eye for goal, and could provide the extra quality that Ipswich can often lack.

3. Ben Brereton - Nottingham Forest:

Having already made 18 appearances for Forest in the league last season, Brereton could be set to make an even bigger impact at The City Ground this season.

Amongst the 3 goals the youngster scored last season was a last minute winner against Aston Villa, a goal that would've undoubtedly endeared him to the Forest faithful.

Like Dozzell, Brereton was also a part of the England Under 19 squad that was successful at the European Championships in the summer, bagging 3 goals in the tournament.

At 6 foot, the 18-year-old striker is adept in the air, as well as being just as capable with the ball at his feet. Despite the arrivals of strikers Daryl Murphy and Jason Cummings, Brereton should still be in the plans of manager Mark Warburton.

4. Dael Fry - Middlesbrough:

Following Middlesbrough's relegation, Dael Fry will be looking to establish himself back in the team, after making his breakthrough in the 2015/16 season.

During that campaign, he made 8 appearances for Boro. However, he was sent out on loan to Rotherham last season, and perhaps didn't have the campaign he would've hoped for.

The 19-year-old only made 10 appearances for The Yorkshire club, and his loan subsequently ended in January.

With the ongoing speculation around Ben Gibson, Fry could look to establish himself in the heart of Garry Monk's defence.

5. Ronaldo Vieira - Leeds:

Vieira made a big impact in the heart of Leeds United midfield last season, making 34 appearances for the Lilywhites. The 19 year old was rewarded for his good form last season with a call up from England Under 20's, as they won the Toulon Tournament.

The powerful central midfielder will be hoping he can impress new Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen as much as he impressed Garry Monk last season.

Certainly one to watch again next season, Vieira could be the key to another promotion push at Elland Road this season.
