Coventry's Zain Westbrooke looks set to be a man in demand this month, several Championship side linked with a move for the midfielder.

A report from Sky Sports' Transfer Centre (06/01, 10:55) has claimed that Leeds, Cardiff and Bristol City are all interested in the 23-year-old, while separate reports from TeamTalk have revealed Nottingham Forest, West Brom and Derby, as well as the Robins, are keen on Westbrooke.

A former Chelsea youth player, Westbrooke joined Coventry from Brentford in the summer of 2018, and has since gone onto make 33 appearances in all competitions for the club, scoring four goals.

All four of those goals have come in the 19 league games Westbrooke has played this year, with the 23-year-old also providing two assists to help Coventry to third in the current League One standings, just one point adrift of the automatic promotion places.

It seems as though that has caught the attention of those further up the footballing pyramid, with no fewer than six Championship clubs having now been linked with the midfielder.

Westbrooke is entering the final few months of his contract at Coventry, and although the club do have the option to extend that deal by a further 12 months, that is something they have yet to do, meaning the midfielder could be free to leave the club for nothing in the summer, if no deal is agreed either way before then.

The Verdict

This could be a good move for one of these sides.

The fact that Westbrooke was on the books at Chelsea certainly seems to suggest he has plenty of potential, something which now seems to be coming to the fore at Coventry this season.

That attacking instinct from midfield could certainly be useful as these sides all look to push for promotion or the play-offs in the second half of this season, and Westbrooke's current contract situation means it looks as though this is a deal that all of them should be able to afford.
