Leeds United and Aston Villa are among the clubs who are weighing up a move for Barnsley centre-back Liam Lindsay after his impressive campaign for the Tykes.

The 23-year-old has been a regular for Daniel Stendel with the side currently second in League One as they eye an instant return to the second-tier.

And, Birmingham Live have revealed how the Mirror are claiming there is a lot of interest in the Scotsman.

They report that as well as the Whites and Villa, Stoke, Brighton and Celtic are all monitoring the player who would cost around £5m.

The former Partick Thistle man arrived at Oakwell last season and whilst the season ended in relegation, Lindsay was one of few to emerge with any credit.

But, he has taken his game up a level now and could be set for a summer move regardless of whether Barnsley win promotion.

Lindsay is set to feature this afternoon as the Yorkshire outfit travel to take on Walsall in the early EFL game of the weekend after he was once again overlooked by Scotland in the international break.

The Verdict

There's no doubt that Lindsay is the latest Barnsley man who could be destined for a big move and he has a lot of quality and potential to get better.

He has been outstanding this season and a key reason for the Tykes position which has been built on a solid defence.

The immediate focus will be helping the side to promotion but it wouldn't be a surprise if Lindsay was off in the summer.
