Where Ben White ends up playing for next season is anyone’s guess right now, after having a fine campaign so far in 2019/20.
When Pontus Jansson left the Whites last summer, there was natural concern that the team was going to be weaker.
White, then, had big shoes to fill and that is exactly what he has done with him proving a cool presence at the back and capable of coming out of defence with the ball and launching attacks.
He’s a classy defender already, then, but with him on loan at Leeds from Brighton, it remains to be seen where he goes next to keep that reputation intact.
Indeed, Alex Bruce has warned that he must have that in mind when deciding where he wants to play next, and suggested that a switch to somewhere like Liverpool might not be beneficial.
He said via Football Insider:
“He’ll have a big decision to make. Ultimately the biggest one for him, if you’re asking for my opinion and the advice I would give for someone like him, is go somewhere where you’re going to play.
“The thing he doesn’t want to do is have a full season playing, get a decent little reputation and then go and sit on someone’s bench, like at Anfield or somewhere.
“Keep playing, keep building your reputation – that’s my advice to him.”
Can you name where these Leeds men started their careers?
It’s a fair point to make from Bruce.
White has been a fine talent this season and has shown the vast potential he has, but he must keep playing in order to achieve the most out of his career.
The summer could be a big one for him, and whatever path he chooses it needs to be in the best interests for his progression.
