Kemar Roofe has praised the form of Billy Sharp this season, with the Leeds United forward impressed with his Sheffield United counterpart.

Leeds are going up against Sheffield United in the race for automatic promotion this season in the Championship, with Sharp leading the Blades to an important win at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.

Chris Basham’s goal was the difference on the afternoon, with Sharp not building on the 22 goals he’s scored in the league so far this season.

However, when speaking to EFL of Quest about the Blades, Roofe was complimentary about what Sharp has achieved this season for his boyhood club.

"Yeah, of course," Roofe admitted when discussing his respect for the Blades skipper.

"I just love football. It doesn't matter who it is. I respect if you're doing the right things and you're good at it. And you're nice to watch, I like that.

"What he has done this season is dangerous."

Only Teemu Pukki has scored more goals than Sharp this season in the Championship, with the Norwich City striker currently keeping their respective promotion push on track.

Yet, Roofe isn’t far down that list despite a recent injury setback, having scored 14 goals for Leeds this season.

Currently Marcelo Bielsa is without the 26-year-old due to a knee ligament injury.

The Verdict

You can’t help but admire what Sharp has done this season for Sheffield United.

Ahead of last season many doubted him stepping back up into the Championship, but he delivered then and he’s doing it again, with the Blades firmly in the mix for promotion this year.

Whilst comments like this are nice for Sharp to see, his focus won’t be drifting away from the promotion race.
