Quoted by Leeds Live, Leeds United ace Kalvin Phillips has identified the four young players that he feels could break into the first-team in the next year or so at the club.

United have been excellent this season and are looking to at last confirm their return to the Premier League, if and when things get back going in terms of matches played.

Progress is being made, though, with training back underway and Leeds' players will doubtless be working hard under Marcelo Bielsa right now.

That has been a trait of the Argentine's tenure so far and, similarly, using youth has also been something that he has looked to do when and where possible.

Indeed, the club has several talented youngsters on the books at the moment, and Phillips has identified a quartet to watch in the near future.

He said:

“We’ve got Leif Davis, he’s a great player. He’s a left-back who’s really quick.

“We’ve got Jordan Stevens, who’s made a few appearances here and there as well.

“We’ve got a few younger lads called Niall Huggins and Alfie McCalmont. They’re really good young players as well.

“They’ll be in the team in the next year or so, definitely.”

The Verdict

We've seen some of the youngsters come in and shine for Leeds under Bielsa and it certainly looks as though they have got a fine crop coming through.

They've got perhaps the best manager they could have for their development, too, so Phillips might well be on the money when saying he expects this four to start pushing more for a first-team berth in the near future.
