Cardiff City playmaker Lee Tomlin has been looking back on his heroics at Elland Road earlier in the season.

Neil Harris’ side went up against a Leeds United team on a seven-game winning streak back in mid-December, with Marcelo Bielsa’s side threatening to put the Bluebirds to the sword early on.

Goals from Helder Costa and Patrick Bamford fired Leeds into a two-goal lead at the interval, with Bamford converting a second-half penalty to make the game look safe.

However, a Tomlin-inspired Cardiff fightback stunned Elland Road, with the 31-year-old scoring one and assisting another either side of Sean Morrison’s header.

The assist, for Robert Glatzel’s equaliser, was an exceptional back-heel, which made a hopeful long-punt up field into a moment that’ll live long in the memory of the Cardiff fans.

It’s a moment that’s been reflected on amid this postponement due to the coronavirus outbreak, with Tomlin even issuing his response to the moment on Twitter:

When the season can eventually resume, Cardiff will be looking to break into the Championship play-off places, with Harris’ side sitting ninth in the table and just two points adrift of the top-six.

The Verdict

The 3-3 draw with Leeds United was a really big moment for Cardiff this season.

Three goals down anywhere is a tough challenge, but particularly at Elland Road, with Tomlin’s individual performance perhaps one of the best we’ve seen this season in the Championship this season.

He’s well within his rights to dine out on that.
