Bristol City are clinging on to the final play-off spot after spectacularly throwing away a three-goal lead against lowly Sunderland last time out.

Whilst that result will have no doubt infuriated fans, it can’t take away from what has been a fantastic season up to this point.

Very few thought the Robins had any chance of making the top six after a poor previous campaign that saw fans call for Lee Johnson to be sacked.

Yet, as we approach the final 15 games, City have a genuine chance of making the Premier League even if they could do with finding some momentum.

One reason for positivity is that Johnson had a very productive January that saw Ryan Kent and Lois Diony join the club to provide more quality in the final third.

Those signings, combined with a long injury list easing, means the Robins may have a big enough squad to cope for the run-in.

Yet, it also means certain players are now no longer needed and here are two players who are sure to depart Ashton Gate no matter what league Bristol City are in come August.

The striker made the headlines when he swapped Bristol Rovers for Bristol City in January 2017 but he has failed to handle the step up to the Championship.

Taylor was prolific with The Gas and scored goals as they progressed up to League One, so when the Robins activated his release clause it looked a good move.

However, one goal in 30 Championship league games says it all and he is now behind several players at Ashton Gate.

A move will suit all parties in the summer and the 27-year old would be a fine signing for any third tier side.

The Swedish forward is another who will find game time hard to come by at Bristol City because of the options Johnson now has.

A decent loan spell at Djurgaden earlier in the season provided hope that Engvall could have a big impact for the remainder of the season but it looks unlikely now.

Given he is only 21-years old, a loan move may suit the Robins as he still has time to come good but he needs to be playing and that won’t happen at Ashton Gate.
